One week to go...

We did a pretty good job knocking off one page of "To-Do"s today. Our dear friends Tony Miles and his girlfriend, Rachelle, had a little gathering to wish us good luck on our trip and I feel like the angels will be watching our route. (Unless, of couse, they've stayed behind to have another beer with Tony or anothe bowl of Mike Rosul's awesome jumbalaya.) In that case, we're on our own and those damn angels are sitting fat and happy!

Before we leave, we have three birthdays to celebrate (Happy birthday, Sam, on the 30th, Ben, on the 31st, and Mom, - hitting 80, on June 2.) Love you ALL! We also have a James Taylor concert on Wednesday, have to get the bike serviced and get a plumber out here to install our emergency sump pump for some peace of mind while we're away. Oh yeah...and we also have 10 classes to "put to bed" so to speak - by getting their finals done (they need to be written first), grades submitted and end of the year wrap up complete. WAIT!! WE'RE LEAVING NEXT SUNDAY??? I NEED MORE TIME!! Wait! WAIT!!

I took this pic on our way home from picking up the trailer (which actually pops up into a camper with a king-sized bed, sitting room, and bathtub-sized storage container- no, I'm not kidding) west of Chicago. Are we hooked up or what?

Excuses, excuses, excuses

Now Laura....I know you are an intelligent woman. I also know you do not accept excuses from your students about ambigous test questions. FAILING or would it be more politically correct to say Unsuccessful Written test endeavor that you were unable to complete for certification will be a thing of the past next week. Keep trying!
This will be so cool to keep track of you and Jack during your summer adventures.

Getting Started

(The trip will not be the only adventure this summer - just figuring out how to do this blog will be a challenge! Bear with us and feel free to offer constructive criticism - we need all the help we can get.)

20 days to departure...
We've just made a few important purchases for the trip: a camping table and chairs, a small heater (dear GOD, I hope we don't need that often...), a grill, and two sporks. What more do we need?

I've taken my motorcycle course, passed the range test, and promptly failed my Sec'y of State written test. The questions were tricky. The wording was deceptive. The sun was in my eyes. Yes, yes...I know. However, I will give it another shot this week. I want to get that endorsement before we go in case Jack can't drive while we're gone and we're stranded somewhere. And there are bears. And it's cold and dark. And the GPS isn't working. And...AHHHHHHhhhhhhhh...Whose idea was this trip?!

Seriously. We're going to be just fine. Can't wait for the adventure (and the pie. Did I mention the pie?)
